HPE lists P06762-B21 specifically as the ProLiant ML30 Gen10 8SFF Hot Plug CTO Server. The CTO configuration has one processor socket, four DDR4 UDIMM slots, eight hot-plug SFF drive bays, four PCIe 3.0 slots, one M.2 PCIe slot, and embedded 1Gb Ethernet networking.
The HPE ProLiant ML30 Gen10 P06762-B21 is a compact and versatile tower server designed for small and medium-sized businesses, branch offices, and organizations requiring reliable on-premises server infrastructure. Its 8SFF hot-plug configuration provides a combination of storage flexibility and easy drive maintenance while maintaining a compact tower form factor.
As a Configure-To-Order (CTO) platform, the P06762-B21 does not include a fixed processor configuration. The system uses a single processor socket and supports compatible Intel Xeon E-2100/E-2200 series processors, as well as selected Intel Core i3 and Pentium G processors. This allows the server to be configured according to the required performance and workload.
The server provides four DDR4 UDIMM memory slots and supports up to 64GB of memory, depending on the selected memory configuration. This provides sufficient scalability for many small-business applications, file services, database workloads, virtualization, and general-purpose server environments.
One of the main features of this configuration is its 8SFF hot-plug drive cage, providing eight 2.5-inch drive bays. The hot-plug design allows compatible storage drives to be serviced or replaced more conveniently without requiring the entire server to be removed from operation.
Because P06762-B21 is a CTO chassis, hard drives are not included as a fixed standard configuration. The server can be configured with compatible SAS or SATA storage according to the required capacity and performance. HPE's QuickSpecs also specifies that when the 8SFF hot-plug configuration is selected, a SAS controller must be selected. Supported options include the HPE Smart Array E208i-p SR Gen10 and HPE Smart Array P408i-p SR Gen10 controllers.
The server includes embedded HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-Port 361i networking, providing two 1Gb Ethernet ports for standard network connectivity. Additional networking can be added through compatible PCIe expansion cards, including optional higher-speed networking solutions.
For expansion, the ML30 Gen10 provides four PCIe 3.0 expansion slots, allowing customers to install compatible network adapters, storage controllers, graphics cards, and other PCIe devices. The system also provides one M.2 PCIe 3.0 x2 slot, which can be used for compatible M.2 storage applications such as operating-system or boot storage.
For storage management, the platform includes HPE Smart Array S100i software RAID functionality. Depending on the configuration, additional HPE Smart Array controllers can be installed to provide enhanced RAID functionality and storage performance.
For system administration, the ML30 Gen10 includes HPE iLO 5 with Intelligent Provisioning. HPE iLO allows administrators to remotely monitor and manage the server, while Intelligent Provisioning helps simplify operating-system deployment and server configuration.
The 4U tower form factor makes the ML30 Gen10 particularly suitable for organizations that do not require a traditional rack-mounted server. It can be deployed in offices, server rooms, branch locations, and other environments where a tower configuration is preferred.
