The HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 12LFF CTO Server, Part Number 868705-B21, is a versatile and highly scalable 2U rack server designed for businesses and enterprise environments requiring flexible compute and high-capacity storage. As a Configure-To-Order (CTO) platform, the server can be customized with compatible processors, memory, storage, RAID controllers, networking adapters, and power supplies according to specific workload requirements.
The server features a 12LFF (Large Form Factor) drive configuration, providing twelve 3.5-inch drive bays. This makes the 868705-B21 particularly suitable for organizations that require substantial storage capacity for applications such as file servers, backup environments, data storage, virtualization, and other enterprise workloads.
As a CTO server, the processor is not included as standard. The system can be configured with compatible Intel Xeon Scalable processors, allowing customers to select the appropriate level of processing performance based on their applications and business requirements. Depending on the configuration, the server can support processor and memory combinations designed for a wide range of enterprise computing environments.
The HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 platform provides 24 DIMM slots, allowing extensive memory expansion. Compatible DDR4 memory can be configured according to the selected processors and workload requirements, giving businesses the flexibility to build a system suitable for both current and future infrastructure needs.
Storage can also be customized according to customer requirements. Since this is a CTO configuration, no specific hard drives are included as a standard configuration. Compatible storage options may include enterprise SAS and SATA drives, depending on the selected storage controller and overall system configuration.
The 868705-B21 provides flexibility for storage controller selection, allowing compatible HPE Smart Array controllers to be installed based on the required RAID functionality, performance, and data protection needs. HPE's DL380 Gen10 QuickSpecs also notes that the 12LFF chassis includes the cable required for installation of the HPE Smart Array P816i-a controller.
For networking, the platform includes an HPE 1Gb Ethernet 4-Port 331i Adapter, providing reliable network connectivity. The server can also support additional compatible networking options through HPE FlexibleLOM and PCIe expansion adapters, enabling businesses to adapt connectivity according to their infrastructure requirements.
The 2U rack form factor provides an excellent balance between performance, storage capacity, and rack-space efficiency. The server platform also offers expansion capabilities for compatible PCIe cards and other enterprise hardware, making it suitable for organizations with growing IT infrastructure requirements.
For simplified system administration, the HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 platform supports HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) management, allowing administrators to remotely monitor and manage the server. This helps simplify deployment, troubleshooting, maintenance, and day-to-day server administration.
With its 12LFF storage configuration, flexible processor and memory options, customizable storage and RAID capabilities, expandable networking, and enterprise-class management, the HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 868705-B21 provides a powerful and adaptable platform for demanding business environments.
The server is well suited for a variety of workloads, including file and storage servers, backup solutions, virtualization, databases, business applications, enterprise infrastructure, and general-purpose computing.
